Are You a Sufferer of Reading Phases?
You’re thinking, “What? There are reading phases?!” I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Do you ever get stuck within a genre or subgenre/topic and find yourself reading book after book about the same thing? For example –I have been reading a lot of true crime lately. It’s not that I am “stuck”, it’s just that I find myself wanting to read whatever true crime books that I can get my hands onto. Right now, I am going through a reading phase: Must read all the crime!
To go beyond my current reading phase, I decided to read a book for review, The Cat Whisperer by Mieshelle Nagelschneider. But as I am reading (and enjoying) this book, I find myself wanting to read other books on cat behavior in order to understand my cat better.
So I went from being “The weird lady who likes reading about criminal psychology” to “the weird lady who likes reading about cat psychology.”
I guess I have been in a non-fiction kick lately. In September/October I was reading a lot of paranormal/ghost books. Over the summer it was all about gardening. Now, cats — and DIY building type things.
Do you ever find yourself stuck in genre’s and worry what other people may think? What genre or interest is currently capturing your attention? Or are you a “read whatever is available or popular at the moment” type of reader? What reading phases do you find yourself in?
