Excuse me while I ignore you to move…

Buried alive in boxes!

Not that I am ignoring anyone intentionally — but my head is completely wrapped around the big move. We haven’t moved since January 2007 when we moved into our current living “space”. (I wouldn’t quite call it a home since it never quite felt like one!)

We are currently living in Deltona, Florida. Let me just say that it’s not a good fit. We hate it here and I’ll be damned if I put my kids in Volusia County schools. (I mean — I am not sure if they actually went through with it and/or are still doing it but at one time Volusia County schools had talk of not having paid substitutes but volunteers). Now if that’s not a disaster waiting to happen. Who is going to honestly care about watching a bunch of unruly kiddos (even though I do love them) if they aren’t being paid for it? How would parents feel if their kid was being sent to school to be babysat for a day, or two — or multiple days while their teacher was elsewhere? Are they genuinely getting real education? (Don’t even get me started on education in Florida…) But this is just all besides the point. We just hate Deltona. Period.

We are moving back to the wonderful city of Lake Mary. Where there is a mall nearby — and a lot of places to shop, recreation (oh) and Seminole County schools! :) Even though we’re going from a house to an apartment, we couldn’t be happier. The apartment is bigger than the house with a better layout. As of now we have this dining room/living room/open kitchen great room that feels like a big box type thing going on. It doesn’t leave much for anything. When you walk in and just kind of see everything — it just always feels like a mess. Even if it isn’t.

I know it seems kind of backwards — to go from house to an apartment. In some ways, I wish it were different at this point in time. Maybe in a year or two we can move back into a house (which I would really like) and I know once we are in the new home we can save more money with a mortgage refinance. Apartment living is actually quite pricy! In many ways the cost of living in a home can be and is usually quite cheaper then living in an apartment, especially with the right lender.

The place we are moving to has a dining room and a separate (rather large) eat-in portion of the kitchen. As we only have one dining room table, we don’t really need two separate eating areas. However this is perfect because the eat-in area is tile and is perfect to put Carli’s table so Carli (and eventually) Kate can eat in the kitchen eat-in area where it’s easier to clean up. Carli — oh Carli.. Well, if she tells you she is done and you don’t get her plate fast enough, it ends up on the floor. This would not be a great scenerio for carpet (as most of the apartment is) so it’s nice to have an eat in kitchen. She’s currently in a high chair, but will be moving to a little kid’s table when we move. I’ll make her clean her own mess up. Maybe then she’ll learn to ‘eat neater’.

The girls will still be sharing a room even though the apartment is 3 bedroom. Their room at the apartment is considerably bigger than their room now and with a gigantic walk-in closet. (As of now, none of us have walk-in closets) so I am beyond ecstatic to get room back for clothing.

But anyway — I am rambling.

Basically, for the next few weeks I will be doing a LOT of packing. So I may be a bit forgetful and slow on a lot of things so forgive me. Forgive me. Forgive me! We move on the 30th — so the countdown is on!

Though with all this moving, I wish I had more time to read my books. Today’s fast-paced world has made people busier and less willing to commit their time to a reading or learning. Looking into accredited online schooling is a great answer to finally fulfilling your dreams, perhaps gaining a bachelor in legal studies or a paralegal online degree. Reading and education in any form elevates every society. I have to remember this as I am busy packing my house. Even when I am really busy, I can’t forget to take the time out for a book.
