It’s Monday! What are YOU Reading? #Meme

J.Kaye created a Meme for Mondays where you list the books you have recently completed this week, books you are currently reading, and books you hope to read this week.

The books I have read in the past week:

    • 101 Habits of Highly Successful Novelists: Insider Secrets from Top Writers by Andrew McAleer
    • How NOT To Write a Novel by Howard Mittelmark and Sandra Newman

      Books I am currently reading:

      • The Happiest Toddler on the Block by Dr. Harvey Karp, M.D.
      • Occult America: The Secret History of How Mysticism Shaped Our Nation – by Mitch Harowitch

Books I plan on reading this week:

      1. Watch the Hour – J.R. Lindermuth (I am going to try this one again, if I have time)
      2. How to Get Your Child to love Reading: For Ravenous and Reluctant Readers Alike – Esme Raji Codell

I’ve sort of felt like I am in a reading funk lately. Maybe it’s because I’ve been reading too many “help” books. I don’t know. Maybe it’s because I am so wrapped up in beginning #NaNoWriMo (http://www.nanowrimo.org) that reading has taken a back seat. So please forgive me and excuse me during this adjustment period of writing AND reading at the same time. I also tried reading multiple books the past few weeks and I have discovered it only prevents me from truly engaging in either book. So – I am really going to try and finish up one novel before beginning another.

      What are YOU reading?

How to get your child to love reading? Shoot, I wish I would have read THAT when my son was younger. He’s 15 now. It’s hopeless :)

I get in reading funks if I read too many “help” books or even if I read too many non-fiction books in a row. Helps to mix it up :)

May you rise from your reading funk this week :)

      10. I can definitely understand getting into a rut and having to work at getting out of it. Maybe you can find a good fiction book soon to add into the mix to help climb out of it all.

I haven’t read anything on your list but this one caught my eye so I’ll have to check into it: Occult America: The Secret History of How Mysticism Shaped Our Nation.

Those all look very interesting! Good luck with NanoWriMo!! You read some good books on novel writing for inspiration. :-) I am doing NanoWriMo too, though so far, I’ve made negligible progress.
