The ONLY Black Friday Purchases I Made #Books

I went to Half-Off Books and made the ONLY shopping purchases on Black Friday, there. Surprised? Come on! I mean, they were having a no-minimum purchase, 20% off sale. Since the books are already half-off and now you’re adding 20% off to that?

I think every city should have a Half-Off Books store! Sad that we are moving in January/February and will be further away from it! But anyway – here is a list of books that I got.

  • Negima! by Ken Akamatsu (Books 2,3,4,5,6, & 7)
  • Wake -  Lisa McMann
  • Wandrous Strange – Lesley Livingston
  • The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy & Goth Girl by Barry Lyga
  • Goth Girl Rising by Barry Lyga

Total Books: 10 ! (For $50-something) Considering quite a few of them are hardbacks, I think that’s pretty good! Thank you to my wonderful husband for giving me some money to go shopping. He said, “Merry Christmas!” LOL.

Wake – By Lisa McMann

Synopsis: (Taken from Amazon.com)

For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people’s dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie’s seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.

She can’t tell anybody about what she does — they’d never believe her, or worse, they’d think she’s a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn’t want and can’t control.

Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else’s twisted psyche. She is a participant….

Wondrous Strange – By Lesley Livingston

Synopsis: (Taken from Amazon.com)

Since the dawn of time, the Faerie have taken. . . .

Seventeen-year-old actress Kelley Winslow always thought faeries were just something from childhood stories. Then she meets Sonny Flannery. He’s a changeling—a mortal taken as an infant and raised among Faerie—and within short order he’s turned Kelley’s heart inside out and her life upside down.

For Kelley’s beloved Central Park isn’t just a park—it’s a gateway between her ordinary city and the Faerie’s dangerous, bewitching Otherworld. Now Kelley’s eyes are opening not just to the Faerie that surround her, but to the heritage that awaits her . . . a destiny both wondrous and strange.

The Astonishing Adventures of Fan Boy and Goth Girl – by Barry Lyga

Synopsis: (Taken from Amazon.com)

Fanboy has never had it good, but lately his sophomore year is turning out to be its own special hell. The bullies have made him their favorite target, his best (and only) friend seems headed for the dark side (sports and popularity), and his pregnant mother and the step-fascist are eagerly awaiting the birth of the alien life form known as Fanboy’s new little brother or sister.

Fanboy, though, has a secret: a graphic novel he’s been working on without telling anyone, a graphic novel that he is convinced will lead to publication, fame, and—most important of all—a way out of the crappy little town he lives in and all the people that make it hell for him.

When Fanboy meets Kyra, a.k.a. Goth Girl, he finds an outrageous, cynical girl who shares his love of comics as well as his hatred for jocks and bullies. Fanboy can’t resist someone who actually seems to understand him, and soon he finds himself willing to heed her advice—to ignore or crush anyone who stands in his way.

Goth Girl Rising – By Barry Lyga

Synopsis: (Taken from Amazon.com)

Time is a funny thing in the hospital. In the mental ward. You lose track of it easily. After six months in the Maryland Mental Health Unit, Kyra Sellers, a.k.a. Goth Girl, is going home. Unfortunately, she’s about to find out that while she was away, she lost track of more than time. Kyra is back in black, feeling good, and ready to make up with the only person who’s ever appreciated her for who she really is. But then she sees him. Fanboy. Transcended from everything he was into someone she barely recognizes. And the anger and memories come rushing back. There’s so much to do to people when you’re angry. Kyra’s about to get very busy.

Very nice! I love YA. I’m planning on doing my Christmas shopping this year on Amazon, since I only have to get a couple items. I’m planning to stick in a couple books in the order as well. xD
