Top 5 Favorite Twitter List(s)

As I am getting to know Twitter via the actual web browser, I have noticed that people have these things called “lists”. It helps them organize people by concept or memory. A list is created and you go under one of them. Then you will either be responded to more (because people can find you) or you are put there to be ignored and you are tweeting to yourself. ;)

The lists are really helpful so you can semi ignore the ones you don’t care to read about constantly and you can be sure not to miss the ones you do. Once someone adds you to a list, it’s attached to your profile so you can see what kind of list you fall under and how you come across to other people.

As of now I am in 246 lists — wow! But checking the names of these lists — well, I just had a chuckle. I had to share. These are some of my favorites.

My top 5 favorite twitter lists (that I am listed under)

These are in no particular order.

1. @lastpowerranger/conversationlist

The description reads, “A dynamic list rebuilt daily of the people you are talking to and about.

While I may not be on this list tomorrow, I thought it was nice. I am listed as a conversationalist… either that or people are talking smack and I may need to kick some twitter butt. ;) At the same time, now the pressure is on! I have to keep talking on twitter to remain on the “list”! Gah! No more “2-3 month absences”.

Alright, deal.

2. @Iain2008/accomplished

No description necessary. I am listed as accomplished. If that doesn’t stroke my ego a little and make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, I don’t know what will. I almost want to DM the person and be like, “Hey – -under what basis are you thinking I am accomplished?” But then I think I may set off an alarm and they realize, “whoops —  how did Allison end up in this list.” and then suddenly I am no longer on the list.

So I just won’t say anything. I’ll just nodd and say, “Thanks!” :)

3. @jmw4952/celebrities

It gets worse.. I am listed under celebrities? Sugga-wah? I mean look who I am listed with — Paris Hilton to name one. This is also an ego stroker, but on steroids. It’s another thing where I probably shouldn’t mention to the list owner in fear that they’ll realize that Well-Read Reviews is actually just a very normal 27 year old stay at home mom who needs to lose some baby weight.

4. @Scatoma/self-identified-readers

MOST of the lists are some variant of “book” or “blogger” — but this one in particular stood out. It was just a very clever way to write “reader”. It’s almost as if I wouldn’t be considered one unless I self-identified myself as so. Okay then, I am a self-identified reader and PROUD.

Love it.

5. @TheTsarsDwarf/kinky-fiction-lovers

This one just had me going, “what?” What kind of kinky fiction do I enjoy reading? I have no idea.. and more importantly — what on earth did I say on Twitter that got me labeled as loving kinky fiction?

Funny.

So — check out your lists. What are you listed under? Anything really interesting?

  3. Hey this is a pretty nifty list of lists that you shared! I’ve never thought about really checking the lists I’m on until recently, and when I did, I was flattered and surprised to say the least. I still have not bothered to create a list, but I really should, even if just to return the favor.

BTW, thanks for stopping by!! ;)

No one ever thinks to check them, hehe. Hope you found some jewels! I never really invested in the lists until I started using my iPhone app (TwitBird) and the lists made it so much easier. I sort them by “Mommies” “Authors” “PR” “LovesBooks”, etc. It makes it much easier not to miss people you generally enjoy reading and tweeting with!

  5. This is great information! I have thousands of Twitter followers (and follow thousands as well) but I have not been on lately. Just looked and I’m on 27 lists. Mostly good. Lol
